Repairing the exposed ceiling
Repair compound must dry, be sanded and be inspected before primer. The number of applications depends on the actual surface.
The finishing scope may include ceiling repair, skim coating, sanding, primer and paint. Not every ceiling needs every stage.
Patch or skim coat
Repairs after removal can stay local when defects are isolated. Broader variation may justify a skim coat, while removal-only remains an option.
What affects the estimate?
Area is one factor, but it does not describe the whole job. Height, access, number of rooms, furniture protection, coating, substrate damage and the finish required all contribute to the scope.
